Instructor Certification Programs

Basic Classroom/Driver Instructor Course (BCIC/BDIC)

Basic Driving Instructor (BDIC)

Are you considering becoming a driving instructor? Not only are you required to carry a valid Ontario G licence, but you must also have a driving instructor’s licence card in the vehicle while teaching a student.

To obtain your driving instructor licence, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a valid Ontario G licence

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • A clean driver's abstract

  • Meet Ministry of Transportation (MTO) vision standards

  • Pass the written G1 written test

  • Pass a Class G practical test

  • Pass a vulnerable sector check

Most importantly, you must complete an MTO-approved instructor course. That's where we come in! Our Basic Driving Instructor Course (also known as BDIC) is an MTO-approved program, which will allow you to obtain your Ontario Driving Instructor License to teach in-vehicle only.

Our program is 17 days in length, with a combination of classroom and in-vehicle training. We also use our driving simulators during the classroom training to bridge theoretical and practical training.

Throughout the program, our BDIC students will learn about adult learning principles and instructional techniques - particularly those used in the vehicle during training. The aspiring instructors will also learn about giving and receiving feedback, as well as creating relevant lesson plans for Beginner Driver Education (BDE) students.
